About

SayHi

Hi there and welcome to my site! My name is Kristin and I’ve been a wannabe blogger for a long bit of time now. I live with my husband, two teenage kids, and two dogs in a 1950’s rancher.  My dreams of DIY grandeur began in the first house I ever owned, a 1936 two bedroom bungalow in Richmond,VA.  My first renovation project involved teal and mauve paint, an angel motif, stenciling,  and lots of potpourri.  Thankfully my taste and skills have vastly improved through subsequent homes.  We lived in a 1920’s stucco foursquare that really gave us the chance to spread our DIY, decor and renovation wings, after that it was a new construction home that let us put all our personal touches on it. We vowed to not own new construction again unless it was a custom home so back into an older home we went, our current 1952 rancher in Columbia, SC.

However, having older homes, combined with plenty of furniture that has been handed down to us, results in a lot of unloved items and projects. I have all these thoughts, ideas, and projects for our house rolling around in my head and my family’s eyes literally glaze over when I start to talk to them about things I want to do and try. Blogging seems like an outlet for these ideas, and a way to have you, my adoring fans audience (Hi friends and family!), not only know what’s going on in our house in real time, but even give me feedback. As long as it’s all good! Joking! (Sort of)

I know not everything I do and like will appeal to everyone. I’m not THAT full of myself! But I want to show how fun it can be to think through ideas and personalize your life; whether it’s through painting a wall or harassing your husband to handcraft a cabinet frame for the washer and dryer. The husband who never took a wood shop class. But he is the master of jerry-rigging….we’ll get to that later.

So this little blog will be my quest to show you what we’re doing around the house. And since the house isn’t the only thing we’ve got going, I may throw in other tidbits as well, like great recipes, things to do, vacations, how to train a teenager. You know, things like that.

Join me on this little DIY life journey and maybe you will find a way to relove some of the unloved items in your home too.
